A Closer Look

This shoot was able to capture the raw details of nature for all its beauty. The colours, inside details and animals represent the on-going life of nature no matter what else is happening around it. I was able to capture living life of animals connected to their flora and the connection shared between both. I enjoyed focusing on bright and bold colours which brought out the life of the subject. I was able to play around with the positioning of the subject and relate that to what was going on in the background of the image.

I chose to take this photo so that the long long flower was sitting on the left side of the frame with yellow flowers in the back. The yellow and purple contrast each other which symbolise boldness and confidence. If I were to take this photo again, I would make sure all leaves of the flower could be seen in the frame to help accentuate the photo.

To edit this photo, I increased the brilliance, shadows and black point. To get the big pops of colour, I increased the range, luminance, saturation and hue of the background yellows and pinks from the center of the the flowers.

Lavendar edited.jpg

iPhone

This photo was taken on an iPhone 6. Personally, I love how clear the photo is and how focused it is on the one lavender stem with the bee attached whilst there are many more of the same stems behind. It can be seen that the lavender is starting to have little flowers grow off the main flower and the bee is attached. This photo shows the connection the bee and lavender share and how they need each other to survive.

The photo was captured at the perfect moment to reflect the bee's connection to nature. This photo was edited to create a rustic 70's vibe. This was accomplished by increasing the saturation, contrast and black point and decreasing the brightness and exposure. I then increased the saturation and hue and decreased the luminance of the purple colour to make the small flowers growing from the lavender pop.

This photo is a good insight into the lorikeet's perspective. It is evident through the lorikeet's eyes that he is planning to eat from the gumnut flowers. The rainbow lorikeet connects it's colours to the green of the gum leaves and the pink flowers, connecting the best of both worlds.
